BitRot - Just For You

I noticed that during the Taliban's regime, they sometimes converted soccer fields into execution grounds. That had to be a blast. Imagine hearing a booming Hindu voice over the radio: "sunday - Sunday - SUNDAY!!! Executions for all!!" Of course, radios were banned too, so it's kind of moot. But apparently, everyone had to go watch the weekly executions, and to make it better, you're not allowed to pity the condemned, or - bam- you're next in line. I wonder if any of those hilarious Taliban pranksters would bring a pepper shaker to the stands and shake it into some sucker's eyes and go "Guard! Guard! This guy's crying! That's a hand-removal at least!"

I'm telling you, it would work... if pepper weren't banned too. It's the spice of Satan, you know.

It gets worse: "Several minutes before the execution, her husband's family announced to the Taliban that they forgave Zarmeena. But the Taliban said that it was impossible to stop the execution because they had already announced it to thousands of people. Islamic law allows the family to forgive the killer but the Taliban did not pay any attention to the law."

So let me get this straight:

Victim's Family: Stop the execution! We forgive her!

Taliban: But...but...we already got the gun..and.. everybody's waiting! Aw, come on... The funeral-van is all gassed up and everything, and Ramish has been taking sharpshooting training! Now you want to tell him he can't fire his rifle? He's been looking forward to this for weeks!

Victim's Family: Well... I guess...

Taliban: Great! We were going to shoot her anyways!

So if you break the rigid Islamic law, there are harsh penalties. But if the law lets you pardon the condemned, well then *cough* let's ignore it for a bit. That's putting the FUN back into Fundamentalism.

I also encourage you to send me scathing hate mail about what a conservative sheep I am, at least until Ashcroft takes away your free speech and puts you all in concentration camps. Anyday now...
